Tom Astley is an artist and model maker based in Bristol working in clay, resins, wood and fabric. He has a back-ground in fine art and commercial model making which come together in his personal work with influences from psychoanalysis, puppets, dreams, folk tales and the work of outsiders and visionaries.

After completing a Fine Art BA in Bath the lure of the big city and the hope of working as a sculptor and model maker prompted Tom to move to Bristol, stopping in Dorset and London on the way. Here he has carved out a career for himself doing what he loves over the last 16 years for clients including:

Aardman Animations

Saatchi & Saatchi

BBC Bristol

The Conran Shop

Guardian Media Group

He and his family have made a home in the vibrant city of Bristol where he combines working from home, or at various studios, on commercial work with his own artistic practice of making sculpture and drawing. He is also the founding member of a collective of sculptors and has recently received a diploma in Art Therapy which has influenced his art work and transformed his approach to working collaboratively. When he can he likes reading lots of books, sometimes all at the same time, and spending time with his family and friends.
