About

Tom Astley is an artist and model maker based in Bristol working in clay, resins, wood and fabric. He has a back-ground in fine art and commercial model making which come together in his personal work with influences from psychology, puppets, dreams, folk tales and the work of ‘outsider’ artists.

Biography

After completing a Fine Art BA in Bath the lure of the big city prompted Tom to move to Bristol, stopping in Dorset and London on the way. Here he has carved out a career for himself over the last 20 years in commercial model making for clients including: Aardman Animations, Saatchi & Saatchi, BBC Bristol, The Conran Shop and the Guardian Media Group

He and his family have made a home in the vibrant city of Bristol where he combines working from his studio at home on his own artistic practice, making sculptures, with work on projects at various studios on commercial work.
